One of the major responsibilities of the Torchbearer Foundation is to train and equip church leaders and the laity so that they can be released to serve  effectively, using the gifts God has given them both in their daily workplace, in the unpaid activities of church life, and in their communities in general, with the aim of extending God's Kingdom and affecting the world.

The Torchbearer Foundation organized the first Christian Community Development (CCD) Conference in Africa in the year 2000, in Cameroon. Since then, four other annual conferences have been organized in 3 cites of Cameroon. These conferences brought together over 700 Christian leaders of Cameroon and some African countries to share and promote the CCD vision.

General objectives of the Torchbearer CCD conferences

1.        Get together Christian leaders of Cameroon and Africa to share and promote the vision of CCD.

2.        Equip participants with resources to develop ministries that will impact their environments,  Christians, church leaders, missionaries, and other Christian ministries to bring spiritual and economic transformation of their communities in a way as to glorify God's name.

To achieve the general objectives, the conference programmes are composed of Bible Studies, prayers, workshops and plenary sessions, having specific objectives. There is also time for visitation of stands and networking. This year’s conference will have Prayer Summits interludes, to be led by Rev.& Mrs. Howard and Kathy Boyd of International Renewal Ministries, Branson, USA.
